For 10 years, the Era New Horizons International Film Festival in Wrocław has consistently presented unconventional, original cinema, films that search for new language, new form, for themes absent from the mainstream production. For years, the festival's film programme has been a pretext and inspiration for discovering new horizons in other areas of art, too. The events that accompany the festival - exhibitions and installations, spectacles and concerts, lectures and workshops form a consistent, interdisciplinary artistic offer.

On Sunday, 2nd August 2009, the premiere of Martin Provost's film Séraphine closed the 9^th ERA NEW HORIZONS International Film Festival in Wrocław. During the 11 days of the festival, 545 films from more than 40 countries were screened, including 242 feature-length films, more than 120 of which had their Polish premieres at the festival. In total, there were 564 screenings, watched by 122,077 people.

Peter Greenaway, one of the most important contemporary film directors will be a guest of the ERA NEW HORIZONS International Film Festival in Wrocław, held on 23^rd July - 2^nd August 2009.

The 9^th International Film Festival ERA NEW HORIZONS, being held in Wrocław between 23^rd July and 2^nd August 2009 will present original works which reach beyond the borders of conventional cinema - as every year. The Festival's goal is to present uncompromising, creative and extraordinary films from all over the world, made by artists who search for a new film language and original forms, who address issues missing from mainstream cinema.
